A torn, layered band of slate blue, mist grey and sand crosses one corner of the rug like a river seen from above, threaded with a single fine line of ochre. On one side, carved contour lines ripple outwards; on the other, the ground breaks into the cracked pattern of a dry salt flat, the cracks growing larger and fainter until they fade into calm, open ground. Abstract and quietly dramatic, it brings an artwork's presence to living rooms, studies and hotel lobbies.
